What a Hero Dares The Redgraves Kasey Michaels Books

In the final book of the Redgrave series, it's up to second son Maximilian to finally put an end to the Society. But there's some unfinished business with his former partner and lover, Chloe Charbonneau, before he can take action.
I've found this series a bit uneven, but this was a great finale. The second-chance romance with Max and Chloe is perfect. Meanwhile, we get to see all the rest of the Redgraves and also some characters from my favorite of Ms. Michaels's series in Romney Marsh. The plot moves right along with lots of action as one might expect with two of England's top spies as the hero and heroine to a very satisfying conclusion.

What a Hero Dares The Redgraves Kasey Michaels Books Reviews

Received in great time as expected. Story needed help though, but over all not a bad book. Don't know that I"ll be reviewing Kasey Michaels books after reading this one as the first one of hers I've purchased. But others might like it. A++ for the seller though. Thanks.
Kasey Michaels is a very witty writer.
Both hero and the heroine were great lots steam in their encounters. GOT GOOD UPDATES on the characters from all the other stories in this series. The only thing that was kind of a let down was the villain was never punished for their bad deeds. Good story.
Overall, a very disappointing end to a fairly good series. Maybe the author just ran out of steam, but this book just dragged and dragged. For a story that in large part is an action story, it just wasn't. The ending was boring, quite frankly. A large part of the problem was that Max and Zoe were not fully developed characters. Then, there were repetitive and not very illuminating passages with each musing about what love means and whether they loved each other.
Max and Zoe were formerly partners in the service of the Crown. They spent time in Europe and became lovers in addiiton to partners. Apparently they were very good agents and it was a good partnership. As Michaels tells us incessantly. However, an incident occurs in which Max believes Zoe has betrayed him. They are separated for several months and each ends up on the same smugglers ship headed to England to land on Redgrave land. Spoiler--turns out it was not Zoe who betrayed Max but a French partner who tries to kill Max as they prepare to land.
Zoe helps save Max, they head to the Redgrave mansion, join up with the rest of the Redgrave crowd, discover Zoe's father is alive, and try to figure a way to rescue her father and do away with the Society. Oh, and the French double-crosser happens to be a member of the Society and is holding Zoe's father. Yawn.
The book spends a lot of time with nothing really going on, just a lot of fretting and recapping past events. I think someone who had not read the prior books in the series would be lost, and even more bored than I. Even familiar as i was with the story, parts were confusing. Again, it wasn't a horribly bad book, just not up to the caliber of the others in the series. There was neither enough action nor enough romance. Max and Zoe were just very dull and pieces of their characters were missing. I suppose if you want to know how the series ends, buy the book. Otherwise, I would not bother. Very sad for such a good series to end on such a down note.
I have read the other books in this series and so enjoyed them. The resolution of the problem of the Secret Society that had been going on for generations was very satisfying. I am looking forward to future stories from Kasey Michaels.
An insipid ending to an over all three star series. The main characters were underdeveloped and quite a boring duo for supposedly a killing pair.
Loved Max and Zoe. They were great together. I liked that Max was willing to talk to Zoe - even after he thought she betrayed him. But honestly - he should have known she would never turn on him - I was a little disappointed in him for that. He was "in love" with her, but was willing to believe the worst about her.

He did apologize - but I don't know if a relationship ever really gets over that - so I don't know if I really believe that these two will have a HEA.

As far as the ongoing "Society" mystery - it was wrapped up neatly in this book - maybe too neatly. It was a bit anticlimactic

There was an epilogue - but it didn't really bring any closure. It was actually more like a continuation of the last chapter. I was expecting more. Like maybe seeing them get married or at least what happens to Rose or Adam.

All in all, not my favorite - but not bad either. If you read the entire series , you will want to read this installment
